How to play The Playlist Game

Simple gameplay that brings friends together through music.

Step 1 - Kickstart the Groove

The first player belts out any song title.
That’s the opening track to your night.

Step 2 - Drop That Track

Play that song on your favourite streaming app — that’s your timer!
(Pro tip: pick something longer than a TikTok.)

Step 3 - Draw a Card

Next player grabs a challenge card and reads it out loud.
Clockwise, counter-clockwise — you decide.

Step 4 - Beat the Clock

Before the song ends, you’ve got to drop another tune that fits the card’s theme.
If it says “Songs that make you feel invincible,” you’d better choose wisely.

Step 5 - Hit the Right Note

If the group agrees you nailed it, you’re safe.
If not… consider yourself out of tune.

Step 6 - Keep the Groove Going

The next player draws a new card and the musical madness continues.
Can’t think of a song before the timer ends?
You’re out! Last one standing takes the crown as the night’s ultimate music legend.

FAQs

Quick answers to help you get the music playing and the good times rolling.

How do I play The Playlist Game?

The beat is easy. Each round, one player pulls a challenge from a card, and challenges another to respond with the catchiest, coolest, or most comical song pick they can vibe to.

How long does a typical round of The Playlist Game take?

Most rounds take 60–90 seconds, depending on how quickly players can think of their songs — or panic under pressure.

Can I use any music streaming app like Spotify or YouTube Music?

Yes! You can use any streaming platform — Spotify, Apple Music, YouTube Music, Amazon Music, or even your old-school MP3 library.

What happens if someone can’t think of a song in time?

If the timer runs out, they’re out for that round — and will probably never hear the end of it. But hey, that’s part of the fun.

Can we make up our own rules or challenges?

Absolutely. Make it wilder. Make it personal. Make it chaotic. The core rules are simple, but you’re encouraged to add your own twists.

Do I need to download any apps or create an account to play?

No apps, no accounts, no sign-ups. Just your phone, your music app of choice, and your competitive energy.
